Little Thing

We are seldom far apart
But in mind you're far away
Irrational is my longing
To just want you to stay
With greed I cling to you - in soul
With selfishness untold
Desire to bind you close, infinite
Glued to your hands in perpetual hold
You're the piece I missed
A loss unnoticed before now
You're the need that I dismissed
And yet i need you now, somehow
I am not me when your face is too far to touch
I'm not I when your presence can't be felt
Yet I'm still the same person I was before
This hand of fate was dealt
We are seldom far apart
But any distance is too wide
For you joined me in a journey I made alone before
And my heart found a space to let you inside
